How to Activate an eSIM

Select an eSIM data package for the country where you are traveling, or currently located. You can find our full selection of eSIM cards on mightyesim.com.

Follow the steps below:

a. On the device where you want to install the eSIM data plan, open the Camera app.

b. Point the camera at the QR Code. Tap on the notification that appears, which should say Cellular Plan Detected - Tap to preview this cellular plan.

c. On the following screen, follow the prompts to install the new Data Plan. Usually, the default options are okay to accept.

d. Once the new Data Plan has been added, make sure that Data Roaming is set to ON in your phone's Settings, under Cellular Data> Your new eSIM plan. Note that your eSIM plan may be called "Secondary" or "Personal."
After successfully activating your eSIM, your device will begin searching for a signal immediately. In most cases, a data connection will be established immediately, and you will see 4G/LTE/5G in the signal status. This means you are connected and ready to go!

In rare cases, it may take up to 15 minutes for a data connection to be established. Please be patient, as there are many data carriers and environmental factors that can affect the activation time.

"Unsupported eSIM"

After activating your eSIM via QR code or manual activation code, you may see the following error message:

"This eSIM is from a carrier that is not currently supported on this iPhone."

This error indicates that your device is locked by your carrier and is not allowed to install plans from other carriers.

You can verify if your device is locked by following the steps below:
  1. Go to Settings > General and tap About.
  2. Under Carrier Lock, you should see the message: No SIM restrictions.
  3. If the Carrier Lock field says something different, the device is locked.
Please contact your carrier to have your device unlocked. It can usually be done over-the-air by contacting the carrier's Customer Service phone number.

How to Enable Calling and Texting on your eSIM

You can make and receive calls using your regular phone number if your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling. If this feature is enabled on your device, your phone will connect to your home carrier's network over the internet using the eSIM data connection. (VoIP).

This will allow you to make and receive calls and texts with no roaming fees and no additional costs, because the call will be going over the data connection.
You can also use WhatsApp and other apps linked to your phone number, which will use the eSIM data connection automatically, no setup required. Adding a Maya Mobile eSIM will not change your WhatsApp number.
Follow the steps below to enable Wi-Fi Calling (VoIP) on your phone:
  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Cellular
  3. Make sure your Default Voice Line is set to Primary (your regular phone number)
  4. Under Cellular Plans, select Primary (your regular phone number)
  5. Make sure Turn On This Line is ON
  6. Look for Wi-Fi Calling and set the option to ON

When Wi-Fi Calling is enabled, the phone will use any available internet connection (eSIM data or Wi-Fi) to connect. You should see something like "Carrier Wi-Fi" in your status bar, where Carrier is your home mobile plan provider's name.

If the option is not available under your Primary plan, unfortunately it is not supported by your carrier. This capability is carrier-dependent, and not related to the eSIM.
Please note that our eSIM plans do not include a local phone number, as they are data plans only.
Our eSIM data plans are intended to replace your local carrier's roaming plan and prevent any additional roaming charges. When the eSIM is installed correctly, typically your local carrier will not charge any additional roaming fees.

  • Roaming Data Charges: Will not be charged as long as the eSIM is installed and configured correctly, and Data Roaming is turned off on your regular phone plan.
  • International Call Charges: May be charged by some carriers even when using Wi-Fi calling with the eSIM data connection (not common).
  • International SMS Charges: May be charged by some carriers even when using Wi-Fi calling with the eSIM data connection (not common).

Please note that MightyEsim does not interact with your home carrier, and we have no control over your phone plan. It is always best to contact your carrier to confirm if there are any roaming fees when using Wi-Fi Calling abroad.

Before installing the eSIM

  1. Don't scan the QR code with another phone, (eSIM phone number is linked to provided IMEI and EID phone that you submitted);

eSIM Troubleshooting

There are multiple reasons why your eSIM may appear connected to the network but is not getting an Internet connection on a 4G/LTE network.

You may experience the following problems when the eSIM is not connected to a data network:
  • Extremely slow download/upload speeds.
  • Only "E" (Edge) appears in the signal status, no 4G/LTE.
  • No Internet connection, even though eSIM shows a connection.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT DELETE THE eSIM FROM YOUR PHONE!

If it's not working, please follow the steps below.
Please note that a specific country’s eSIM will only work in that country, a USA eSIM will only work in the USA. You can install the eSIM on your device any time, but it will not connect to a network until you arrive at your destination.
Roaming Data must be enabled for the eSIM to connect to a network.
  1. In your phone's Settings, go to Cellular and select the eSIM data plan under Cellular Plans. The eSIM plan may be called "Secondary" or "Personal."
  2. Make sure Turn On This Line is set to ON.
  3. Make sure Roaming Data is set to ON.

Apple iOS (iPhone)

  1. In your phone's Settings, go to Cellular
  2. Tap Cellular Data at the top to enter a menu where you can select the data plan to use
  3. Make sure the eSIM is selected. It may be called "Secondary" or "Personal."

If you are using an eSIM in the USA or Europe on an Android device and there is no data connection, please check the APN settings by following the steps below:

  1. In your phone's Settings, go to Mobile & Network
  2. Tap the eSIM plan, then go to Access Point Names
  3. Tap Menu, then tap New APN
  4. In the first field called APN, enter globaldata. If there is anything filled in username or password, delete it. Only the APN name is required.
  5. Return to the previous screen and select the new APN.
On your device Settings screen, enable Airplane Mode and wait 30 seconds, then switch it off again. This will force the device to re-connect to the cellular network. Wait up to 15 minutes for the eSIM data plan to successfully authenticate and begin receiving 4G/LTE data.
If resetting the data connection does not work, you may need to select a network manually. Follow the steps below:

Apple iOS (iPhone)

  1. Open Settings/Configuration
  2. Go to Cellular and select the eSIM data plan under Cellular Plans
  3. Tap Network Selection, and on the following screen, switch Automatic to Off. Wait for the list of available networks to appear.
  4. Manually select an available network and wait for the signal status to update. You should see the signal status in the top bar switch to "Searching" when you select a new network.
  5. After finding a network that connects, toggle Automatic back to On.
The unused data expires after the validity ends and cannot be used. If the eSIM is rechargeable, you may be able to add a top-up plan/package.

How to Activate eSIM USA

During the initial setup, you will be prompted to activate an eSIM. If you have already set up your iPhone and are connected to Wi-Fi, your iPhone will notify you when the Cellular Plan is ready to be installed. If you didn't receive a prompt or chose to activate later, you can activate your eSIM by going to the device

Settings > Cellular
During the initial setup, you will be prompted to activate an eSIM. If you have already set up your Samsung device and are connected to Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
